The Voice Behind the Question

I started Are We Saying This Out Loud? because I kept noticing the distance between what people were willing to say publicly and what they admitted privately.

Some of our most honest thoughts don’t arrive as polished opinions. They feel risky, contradictory, unfinished, or socially difficult to admit. We soften them, edit them, or hold them back because we’re unsure how they’ll be received. But I began to wonder what might happen if we treated those thoughts not as conclusions, but as questions.

I’m Sarah—a curious question-asker, an attentive listener, and someone who is more interested in an honest conversation than a perfect answer. I’m drawn to the moments when certainty gives way to something more complicated: when personal stories challenge our assumptions, competing perspectives can both contain truth, and listening changes what we thought we believed.

This podcast begins where polite conversation often stops. Each episode names something we might normally leave unsaid and creates space to examine it through personal stories, genuine curiosity, and honest dialogue.

The goal isn’t provocation for its own sake. It isn’t about winning an argument or delivering the definitive take. It’s about having the courage to say what we’ve been holding back—and enough humility to let the conversation change us.

I don’t expect every question to produce a comfortable answer. I believe the questions we’re most hesitant to ask are often the ones most worth exploring.

So, are we saying this out loud?
